Kohler will sell the $2.5 million Kohler bathroom sink that it used to serve its customers, its chief executive said.
The Kohler logo, which has become synonymous with its brand, is a fixture of the business that sells kitchen appliances, light bulbs, coffee makers and other kitchen and bathroom products.
But last year, as the U.S. recession hit, Kohler said it was taking a hard look at how to save money by cutting costs and reducing expenses.
That prompted Kohler to consider selling the sink, which is made by a company called Kohler-Marlin.
The company said it would sell it for $1.25 million.
It was not immediately clear how the company plans to make money from the sale.
Kohler said the sale would not impact its existing supply chain or its global sales, which are estimated to exceed $50 billion.
Kohler has a significant market share in the U, Europe and Japan.
The $2-million Kohler sink, manufactured by Kohler Marlin, will be sold for $2,250 per unit.
